More about LED lighting in Shelburne Museum exhibition spaces

On March 1, 2013, director of Preservation and Conservation Richard Kerschner presented our experiences with using LED lighting in exhibition spaces at a one-day symposium held at the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Lunder Conservation Center in Washington, DC. During his case study he shared how we've used LED lighting in the past here, how various departments are involved in choosing the lighting we use,  and then Rick talked a bit about the efforts involved in selecting lighting for the new Art and Education Center. Here's his presentation:

This symposium, Gallery Illumination: LED Lighting in Today's Museums, brought together lighting designers, conservators, and scientists to discuss the use of LED lighting in museums. Other presenters included staff members from the National Gallery, London, the National Gallery, Washington, the Minneapolis Museum of Art, the Pacific Northwest Laboratory, as well as the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Green House Gardening...

The green house is up and running, and quickly will be filled with geraniums, petunias, cannas, dahlias and hanging baskets.

Shelburne Museum garden volunteers were busy transplanting the geranium seedlings that were started from seed back in February.

Stay tuned, in mid-May you might see these garden volunteers planting these beautiful geraniums in the garden at Vermont House, on the grounds at Shelburne Museum.
